Outlier Discovery
Find content that massively over-performs — the "outliers" that reveal what's actually working in your niche.
How Outlier Scoring Works
An outlier score measures how much a piece of content over-performs compared to the creator's average engagement. A score of 10x means the content received 10 times more views/engagement than that creator's typical post.
- 1x–3x: Normal performance.
- 3x–5x: Above average — worth noting.
- 5x–10x: Strong outlier — something about this content resonated.
- 10x+: Viral outlier — study this content closely for patterns.
Automated Discovery Pipeline
ContentIQ runs an automated outlier discovery pipeline every Sunday at 6:00 AM UTC. This pipeline:
- Reads your team's niche configuration (keywords, hashtags, platforms, follower ranges).
- Scrapes content matching those criteria from supported platforms.
- Calculates outlier scores by comparing each post's performance to the creator's average.
- Saves content scoring above your minimum outlier threshold (default: 5x) to your library.
Manual Discovery
You can trigger discovery manually at any time by clicking the "Run Discovery" button on the Discover page. This uses the same niche configuration as the automated pipeline.
Niche Configuration
To configure what ContentIQ looks for:
- Go to the Settings tab within the Discover page.
- Add niche keywords (e.g., "fitness", "meal prep", "gym motivation").
- Add target hashtags (e.g., "#fitnessmotivation", "#gymtok").
- Select which platforms to search (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).
- Set follower ranges to focus on creators of a specific size.
- Set the minimum outlier score threshold.
Important: Discovery uses API credits. Each run scrapes content from the platforms you've configured. Very broad keyword/hashtag sets will consume more credits per run.
